Slemish is the remains of the plug of an extinct volcano. Its distinctive appearance causes it to dominate the flat landscape for miles around. Tradition holds that Saint Patrick, enslaved as a youth, was brought to this area and tended sheep herds on Slemish, and that during this time he found God.

Broughshane is host to a beautiful Thatch Inn, providing great pub grub and also Scoffwells a lovely little restaurant. There is a good selection of shops from the Hardware store, Butchers, Greengrocers, Pharmacy and Petrol Station you won’t have to travel far to get what you need. There are also two great Shopping centres, The Fairhill Shopping Centre and the Tower Centre, located in the neighbouring town of Ballymena.
Local Golf Course
Play a game of golf while enjoying the splendid views, dominated by the renowned Slemish Mountain. The Ballymena golf course and club facilities are open all year round for both members and visitors.
